The experience in the calculation of hull deformations, analysis of vibration and noise phenomena as well as underwater acoustic pollution is supported by the results of the measurements made on board, marine waters, lakes and rivers by own instrumentation.

previous experience: The engineer, Ph.D Valter Cergol participates in three Regional FVG projects, funded by the Operational Program (POR) of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), of the 2014/20 period. The funded projects, UBE and NAVRED @ CRUISE, have effectively concluded research and development activities, while the new CORMA strategic project is in full swing. -UBE ( Underwater Blue Efficiency ) The project researches methods of numerical simulation of the state of exhaust gas particles, from the engine to the detachment from the hull, to then try different geometries and virtual hydro-aerodynamic appendices and, therefore, define optimal geometries for the gas exhaust manifold for the purpose hydrodynamic and emissions into the environment. -NAVRED@CRUISE ( Reduction of noise and vibrations on board of new generation cruise ships ) This is a project created to satisfy the ever-increasing needs for on-board comfort expressed by shipping companies and classification registers, which offers innovative solutions through an approach interdisciplinary between various territorial realities. "NAVRED @ CRUISE" is divided into 4 areas: optimization of the acoustic performance of sports floors, noise reduction of the fat hood extraction system, reduction of vibrations induced by thrusters and reduction of vibrations induced by the main on-board systems. -CORMA ( Marine Noise Control ) This project aims to develop a complete system that allows to reconstruct the noise space in a sea basin taking into account the morphology of the sea floor and the physical properties of the water column, using specially developed sensors the data collected from a centralized system that allows to represent the status of the system on a web based platform in almost real time, that is an interactive and easy to consult dashboard for a wide range of actors that, on the one hand, allows to evaluate the impact of marine and coastal activities, and on the other hand allow policy makers and various stakeholders to guide their choices. The prototype will be validated in the Gulf of Trieste, which in addition to being the site of a Marine Protected Area (AMP) is subjected to a particular pressure, from several anthropic components often in competition with fishing activities. The objective of the project is to have a complete submarine noise monitoring system, which underlies all the phases of its acquisition, analysis and representation both systematically and in states of alert, on portals and web services. Using the dashboard metaphor (dashboard), end users will be able to identify possible anomalous situations in order to manage crises and plan possible mitigation activities.

Expertise: Cergol Research & Innovation organization is a new RTO created for vibro-acoustic industrial problem solving. Cergol R&I works in collaborations with Research Institutions and Universities, specializing in the development of new technologies in the Marine, Off-shore and industrial sector. Valter Cergol Ph.D has gained considerable experience working for eight years in the department of vibration and noise of the Fincantieri group. In 2016 he obtained the doctorate at the Ljubljana University and is a member of the Italian Chamber of Engineers.
