services: Planetek Italia, through its cloud platform Rheticus, developed Rheticus Aquaculture, a geo-information service that provides aquafarmers with updated information about finfish/shellfish growth rates based on environmental conditions of their production sites, in order to evaluate the optimal harvesting time and the amount of production, and to promptly identify critical issues that may affect products. Rheticus Aquaculture is based on the exploitation of EO data that can regularly provide synoptic and useful information over production sites. Rheticus Aquaculture combines EO data with simulation models of finfish/shellfish growing rates, boosting data usefulness. The service exploits Sentinel-3 data in conjunction with CMEMS products (Chlorophyll-a Concentration, Sea Surface Temperature, Turbidity, etc.) as input data for: best harvesting- and selling- time identification monitoring and forecasting environmental conditions for operational aquaculture estimating products growth rates, days to market size, product values in comparison with market prices and profitability trends. Through Rheticus web interface, end-user gains weekly key information over their production sites and 14-day forecasts for key parameters connected to good operational conditions. Moreover, end-users access to pre-set weekly reports with summary information on their farming sites and outlook on their production, for supporting their sites management and boost their profitability

previous experience: Throughout its 25 years’ experience in EO, Planetek Italia gained expertise in more than 20 ESA, FP7 and HORIZON funded projects. Some of those are: IMPRESSIVE (2018-present): Development of a web-accessible platform for real-time management of marine pollution events in and around ports. MARINE-EO (2018-present): EO PCP aiming at procuring the development of demand-driven EO-based services, adopted on open standards, bringing incremental or radical innovations in the field of maritime awareness and leveraging on the existing Copernicus Services and other products from the Copernicus portfolio. CosteLAB (2017-2019): Development of a virtual laboratory that intends to provide the scientific community with a framework to analyse, develop and test EO data, applications and products for the monitoring and management of coastal risks both onshore and offshore. Furthermore, the platform also acts as a hub for consolidated services in a pre-operational environment in order to provide EO-based products over coastal areas. SAIMON (2016-2018): online service for monitoring the eutrophication risk over the marine area of Thesprotia Province (Greece), available to citizens, scientific communities and public authorities. DAME (2016-2018): development of a software system for 1) the exploitation of EO data; 2) the system setup in the context of the Italian Collaborative Ground Segment infrastructure (as part of a federation of collaborative facilities in support of the Thematic Exploitation Platform concept at national level), 3) the execution of a proof-of-concept demonstration of its operational concept. CTEP (2016-2018): online service that provides access to an extensive archive of over 20 years of EO data, near-real-time satellite data streams, in-situ measurements, and tools necessary to process and extract information from the above-mentioned data. ICWM for MED (2015-2017): demonstrate the benefits of a service that integrates EO products, satellite communication and navigation solutions together with ground assets and crowdsourcing features, for the improvement of water quality monitoring and coastal surveillance. Coastal Outfall (2012-2014): demonstrate the utility of EO data for monitoring the impact of desalination and water treatment plants to the nearby coastal environment. MarCoast & MarCoast2 (2005-2008, 2010-2012): service designed to realize a distribution via internet of coastal and marine monitoring services. Planetek Italia operated as coordinator of Water Quality services for Mediterranean Sea, Nordic Sea, Baltic Sea and English Channel, and as a Service provider for Adriatic and Tyrrhenian seas. Aquamar (2009-2012): water quality downstream services supporting the EU Water Framework Directive and the European Marine Strategy, and monitoring harmful algal blooms detection, marine coastal infrastructure projects, aquaculture precision farming and bathing waters quality.
